Our latest ShireLiving development marked its official opening today with a royal tea party in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday. Oakwood in Wellington also welcomed Queen Elizabeth II lookalike Patricia Ford as a special guest.
Revealing the plaque ‘Queen Elizabeth II’, smiled, “I’m delighted to open this fabulous facility and celebrate with you all. It really is fit for a Queen!”
The ‘Queen’ was then joined by 92 year old resident Mrs Peggy Johnson to cut the cake and pupils from local Short Wood primary school, who have been following the construction of the building, presented a posy of flowers.
Mrs Johnson said, “I really am happy to be moving to such a great place. I love that I will be close to my family and have support here if I need it.”
Following the ceremony the ‘Queen’ joined the new residents of Oakwood together with invited guests to celebrate and enjoyed a personal tour of the stylish apartments and facilities which include a café/restaurant (open to the public), landscaped gardens and a lounge area with far reaching views.
