Wrekin Housing Group supports Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week

The Wrekin Housing Group has backed a campaign aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour, after new research found nearly half of people see it as a problem in their area.

The Group is supporting Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week to help raise awareness of the issue and encourage individuals and communities to take a stand against it.

The national campaign is run by Resolve, the UK’s leading community safety organisation, which has this week published its latest report revealing that one in four people have been made to feel unsafe in their local area because of ASB, while one in seven say it has affected their mental health.

Wrekin’s Neighbourhood Manager Phil Heywood said: “At Wrekin, the safety and wellbeing of our customers is at the heart of what we do.

“ASB includes actions such as persistent noise, intimidation and violence, and can have a devastating impact on people’s quality of life and the harmony of entire communities.

“We believe that no one should have to live in fear or discomfort due to the actions of others.

“That’s why we are proud to support ASB Awareness Week, which highlights the importance of taking a stand against this type of behaviour and ensuring those affected are aware of the support available to them.

“As a Group we work collaboratively to manage ASB, while ensuring those affected receive appropriate support at all stages of the process.

“We work with external partners including police and local authorities, as well as national bodies focused on good practice and influencing Government policy.”

Wrekin’s ASB Co-ordinator attended the Parliamentary launch event for the campaign, alongside MPs and representatives from police, the Civil Service, local authorities and other organisations from across the country.

She said: “It was a pleasure and a privilege to attend the launch event for ASB Awareness Week in Westminster.

“We heard from a range of speakers including the Rt Hon Dame Diana Johnson MP, Minister for Police, Fire and Crime, and a passionate address from Resolve’s Chief Executive Rebecca Bryant OBE.

“It was a really positive and enjoyable evening, and it was great to hear about the work being done on a national level on this vital issue.”
